Mr. Blascak was born in Youngstown, OH on October 25, 1929, a son of Joseph S. and Katherine (Gossick) Blascak Sr.. He married the former Margaret L. Kope on July 22, 1950 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard, OH. Mr. Blascak was a 1947 Graduate of Girard High School and went on to attend classes at Ohio State University, John Carroll University and Youngstown College. He worked at Republic Steel as a foreman in the Coke Plant and later served as the Vienna Township Zoning Inspector. Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling, reading, and had enjoyed going to draft horse events and was a member of the American Cream Draft Horse Association. He was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a Third Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #13260 in Vienna, and Past-Local-President of the National Paraplegic Foundation. Mr. Blascak is survived by his wife “Peggy” of more than fifty-nine years at home; his two sons Joseph S. Blascak III and his wife Deborah of Williamsfield, OH and John P. Blascak and his wife Elizabeth of New Port News, VA; his daughter Maryann Bauer and her husband John of Howland Twp., OH; three brothers William F. Blascak and his wife Patricia of Austintown, OH, Bernard Blascak and his wife Evelyn of South Carolina, and Martin C. Blascak and his wife Donna of Cortland, OH. Also surviving are twenty-three-grandchildren: Joseph IV, Rebecca, Theresa, Richard, Jennifer, Victoria, James, Nicholas, Stephen, Monica, John Paul Jr., Courtney Ann, Justin, Jeremy, Anthony, John III, Margaret, Anne, William, Matthew, Benjamin, Mary Cecilia, and Philomena; and by his six-great-grandchildren Dominic, Vincent, Christopher, Ian, Ryan, and Brooklyn. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his son Michael E. Blascak in 2005, and by his brother Anthony F. Blascak. Calling hours will be held Sunday afternoon December 20, 2009 at the Lane Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel Brookfield, Ohio from 3-5 PM where a Rosary Service will begin at 4:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday December 21, 2009 at 11:00AM at Queen of The Holy Rosary Church in Vienna, OH with the Rev. Denis Bouchard, F.S.S.P. as Pastor. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Warren, OH. As an expression of sympathy the family requests that contributions be made to Queen of the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church 291 Scoville Drive Vienna, OH 44473.
