Josephine J. Clagett, 84, of Niles died 8:16 PM Wednesday October 29, 2008 at Autumn Hills Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was born May 4, 1924 the daughter of John and Mary (Buchak) Gurella. "Jo" was raised in Akron and graduated from Akron East High School in 1924 before moving to the Niles area. She retired from the Trumbull County Welfare Dept. in 1986 where she worked as a case-worker for over 20 years. She enjoyed reading, dancing, cooking and traveling-especially trips to Hawaii. She also was an avid sports fan particularly of tennis and the Cleveland sports teams. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Hugh Clagett, and 2 sisters Mary Gardner and Kathryn Gurella. Survivors include 2 sons Wayne L. (Wendy) Clagett, Brian K. Clagett and companion Debbie Bohyer of Howland, 5 grandchildren Wayne A., Neil E., and Thomas Clagett all of Howland, Megan and Michael Clagett of California. She also leaves 2 nieces Lorinda Gray of South Carolina, Debi Briggs of Howland and her close friend and caregiver Janice Rayle of Niles. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday Nov.3, 2008 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received from 5-7 Sunday. The Rev. Don King will officiate. Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.
