Julia Ellen Clark Richardson, age 86, formerly of Warren, died at 10:00 am Wednesday , April 15, 2009, at Concord Health Care Center of Cortland. She was born May 14, 1922 in Conneaut, Ohio the daughter of the late Earl and Winifred (Hill) Sanford. She and her husband, Robert G. Clark, moved to Trumbull county from Conneaut in 1965. Julia was a 1940 graduate of Conneaut High School and during World War II followed her husband, Bob, who was in the U.S. Navy; and worked in civil service in Washington D.C. and for Macy's in New York City. She retired from Second National Bank, where she worked as a teller for 17 years. Julia was a member of the Bolindale Christian Church, sang in the Sweet Adelines and in recent years visited, sang and entertained at area nursing homes with her friend, Bob Snedden. She was well known for her delicious pies. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Sally (Ralph) Lane of Cortland and Kathryn (William) Snowball of Wilmington, OH; three stepdaughters, Robin (Jeff) Close of Placerville, Calif., Jacqueline Richardson of Kent and Pamela (Al Bartholet) Anderson of Munroe Falls, OH; one sister, Lucille (Marlyn) Zimmerman of Conneaut; five grandchildren, Jill (Robert) Nunnery, William (Amy) Snowball, Robert (Jeanne) Snowball, Richard (Anne) Lane and Laura (Ryan) Moore; seven stepgrandchildren, Jessica (Ken) Sudberry, Alexandra and Angelo Haidaris, Gregory and Steven Close, Christopher Fedak and Rachel Anderson and six great grandchildren, Kourtney, Cain, Sally Ann, William, Michael and Josephine. Her companion, Robert Snedden of Niles also survives. Julia's first husband, Robert G. Clark, whom she married March 5, 1942, preceded in death July 5, 1985. Her second husband, Jack Richardson, whom she marreid July 15, 1987, died January 27, 1997. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 am Saturday, April 18, 2009, with Pastor Donald Barnes officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Cortland.
