June Newell

June Newell, 84, formerly of Eastland Avenue of Warren, died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 11:45AM at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman Township after an extended illness. Born June 11, 1922 in McDonald, OH, she was the daughter of Robert J. and Hazel Odessa (Christmas) Rodgers. A lifetime area resident, June worked as supervising bank teller for several years. She was a member of the Central Christian Church where she was very active and sang in the choir. She served as president of the CWU (Christian Women’s United) and gave unselfishly of her time as a volunteer for Mobile Meals for more than 30 years. June was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She married Walter “Eddie” Newell August 20, 1955. He preceded her in death July 15, 2003. Together they shared 49 years of marriage and two children. June will be dearly missed by her son Victor E. and his wife Ramona Opincar of Laguna Beach, CA, her daughter Dorothy J. and her husband Darrell Cimbanin of Jarrell, TX, three grandchildren, Jennifer, Theresa “Tess”, and Eric, two great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Garrett of Columbiana and Theresa Rodgers of Campbell, and two brothers, James Rodgers of FL, and Joseph Rodgers of Girard. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Eddie, and by two brothers John and Edward Rodgers. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2006 from 5 to 7PM at the Roberts-Clark Chapel. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna Twp. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to the Warren YWCA or to Mobile Meals in June’s name.
