SOUTHINGTON- Karen L. Duda 56, of Southington died at 12:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. She was born January 15, 1950, in Braddock, Pa., the daughter of John and Felicia Gostkowski Polahar. She was a graduate of Norwin High School in Pennsylvania as well as Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh. She was a Professor of Computer Science and Information Systems at Youngstown State University and currently served as the department Chairperson. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Warren, OH as well as the Shenango Valley Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She enjoyed traveling, interacting with people and her role as an educator and mentor. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Duda, whom she married January 19, 1985; a daughter, Emily; and a son, Quentin. Karen was preceded in death by her mother, father, two brothers John and Gerald, and sister Pearl Missentzis. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday May 15 at St. Mary’s Church, Warren, by Father Bernard R. Schmalzreid. It will be preceded by prayers at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in the form of donations to the YSU foundation, 606 Wick Ave, Youngstown, Ohio 44502, (330-941-3211), for the Karen L.
