Katherine Ann Laase

Katherine Ann Laase, 74, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio following a brief illness. Kathy was born on November 16, 1939 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to the late, William and Elizabeth Kapochy Kantzes. Kathy graduated from St. John Central High School in Bellaire, Ohio in 1957. She married her husband, Donald Laase on August 17, 1963. Kathy had worked for many years as an office manager for the Wheeling Clinic and Dr. John Vlad's office in Warren. Kathy was an avid knitter and was a member of the Whitty Knitters knitting Guild. Kathy enjoyed traveling, especially to Myrtle Beach and loved to bake cookies with her nieces and attending exercise classes at Curves. Kathy had a special place in her heart for animals and she especially loved all of her nieces and nephews. Kathy is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald Laase of Cortland; brother, Jim (Crystal) Kantzes of Wakeman, Ohio; four nieces, one nephew; seven great nieces, one great nephew; and her cats, Domino and Toby. She was preceded in death by her parents. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 North High Street, Cortland, Ohio 44410, from 1:00 to 3:00PM and then again from 5:00 to 7:00PM. A private burial will be at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kathy to the Diabetes Support Group at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Attn.
