Katherine Gresh Kurinko

Katherine G. Kurinko, 90 of Howland Township, Ohio died Monday morning, February 15, 2016, at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren. She was born April 5, 1925 in Johnstown, Pa the daughter of the late Michael and Julie Hnath Gresh. She was raised on a dairy farm in Springboro, Pa. Katherine was a 1943 graduate of Springboro high school and then worked at a sewing machine company for a few years. She was a homemaker all of her married life. She developed her love and fondness for cats on the family dairy farm in her youth. She loved animals, especially her cats and was a very caring person. Katherine loved spending time with her grandchildren and family and loved the family festivities of Christmas and Easter. She was an excellent cook and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church, along with her husband, Walter Roy. She is survived by two sons, Walter Richard Kurinko of Northwood, NH and William Mark Kurinko of Falls Church, Va.; her son-in-law, Gregory Thom of Melbourne, Australia; four grandchildren, Alex Thom in New Zealand, Sarah and Elizabeth Thom of Portland, Oregon and Peter Thom of Boulder, Colo.; one brother, Michael Gresh of Erie and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her husband of 59 years, Walter Roy Kurinko, whom she married September 2, 1950 preceded her in death in 2009. Two daughters, Susan Lee Kurinko and Kathleen Ann Thom and siblings, Helen, Paul, John, Mary, Olga and Margaret Gresh, Anna Zonno, Julia Baumann and Irene Smith have also preceded her in death. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren. Burial will be at Howland Township Cemetery.
