Katherine L Siwicki

Katherine L. Siwicki, 84, of Howland, passed away peacefully at her home 12:05 PM Friday Feb 19, 2010. She was born in Warren Nov. 10, 1925, one of twelve children to Harry and Catherine (Mahynls) Hray. A lifetime area resident, she attended Warren schools and retired from Hill’s Department store where she was a cashier for 19 years. Katherine was a faithful member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church where she was very active. She cleaned and cooked there and participated in many special events. She also had volunteered in the pediatric dept at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Her parents were both born in Russia and she was very proud of her ethnic heritage. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, and babysitting for the children in her family. She had a zest for life and loved traveling and the outdoors. She met her beloved husband Andrew on Valentine’s Day in 1943 and they were engaged 2 weeks later. Andrew was in the service and they were married in Seattle, WA May 1, 1943 and later at Sts. Peter and Paul when he returned to Warren. They shared 56 years of marriage until his death July 28, 1999. Katherine also was preceded in death by her parents, a son Andrew Jr. in 2007, 3 sisters Anna, Mary, Jennie, and 5 brothers, John, Frank, Harry, George, and Adam. She will be sadly missed by children Ms. Janet Parker of Warren, Edward (Velma) Siwicki of Spokane, WA, John (Shirley) Siwicki of Cortland, Mary Kay (Frank) Dillon with whom she made her home in Howland, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a sister Olga (Edward) Fischer of Cleveland, 2 brothers Alex (Betty) Hray of North Augusta, SC, Rudy (Patty) Hray of Warren, and “Snickers” the dog. Friends will be received from 5-7 PM Monday at Roberts Clark Chapel where there will be a Panachida service at 7:00 PM. The Rev. Andrew Deskevich will conduct a funeral service 1:00 PM Tuesday Feb. 23, 2010 at Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church preceded by a 12:30 service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sts Peter and Paul Cemetery. The family suggests material contributions be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church 180 Belvedere Ave. NE Warren, OH 44483.
