Kathryn Alice Thompson

Kathryn Thompson died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Nov. 5. 2008. Born January 25, 1915 in Youngstown, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Margaret Lytle Hoover and Allen Hoover. Kathryn graduated from Boardman High School in 1933, she was a member of Jr.; DeNova Club for many years and was a member of Canfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking and playing bridge. Kathryn married Edwin Thompson on May 30, 1936 and the celebrated their 72nd anniversary this past May. Surviving Kathryn are her husband, Edwin, and their four children, Roberta (Tom) Fabish of Export, PA, Alan (Cheryl) Thompson of Canfield, Dr. Jeffrey (Linda) Thompson of Orefield, PA, and Karen (Ken) Roth of Wooster; twelve grandchildren, more than thirty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy (Joseph) Courtney of Boardman. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harry "Bud" Hoover, and three sisters, Margaret Edwards, Harriet Slagle, and Virginia Hoover. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 PM Saturday with a short service following at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel. The Rev. Donald E. Christensen of Canfield United Methodist Church will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Angles for Animals, 4750 State Route 165, Canfield, OH 44406.
