Kenneth C. Spencer, 80, of Howland passed away peacefully at his home at 8:20 PM Tuesday Sept. 28, 2010 surrounded by his family following a 4 month illness. He was born July 11, 1930 in Warren the son of Leo and Margaret (Wahl) Spencer. A lifetime area resident, Ken was a 1948 Graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. After high school he went to work at Packard Electric for 3 years before joining the US Army and serving in the Korean War. He was discharged in 1953 as a sergeant and returned to Packard where he worked for 44 and a half years retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Trumbull Boat Club, the Mecca Moose, the Trumbull County Farm Bureau, the Common Bond Group of Vienna, the YMCA, and he attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Warren. Ken enjoyed boating, fishing, traveling, and gardening. He loved the outdoors and liked feeding his backyard wildlife. He also loved dogs and was preceded by his beagle "Clifford" 2 years ago. His beloved wife, Phyllis J. (Wilde) Spencer whom he married June 16, 1969 preceded him in death Sept. 23, 1997. He will be sadly missed by 3 daughters Kathie (Bernie) Ostrosky, Susan (Arne) Salo, and Kim Harmon all of Howland Twp. He also leaves 5 grandchildren Tara, Shane, Stacy, Bronwyn, Evan, a great grandson Darius, 2 brothers Russell Spencer of Columbus, Earl (Sally) Spencer of Warren, his friend Barb Hyde of Howland, and 3 daughters from a previous marriage. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday October2, 2010 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received from 11:00 AM until service time. Pastor Jay Eastman will officiate. Entombment will be in the Crown Hill Burial Park Mausoleum where military honors will be observed. The family suggests material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St. Youngstown, OH 44512-2198 or St. Jude Children's Hospital PO Box 1000, Dept.142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
