Austintown- Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at the Lane Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel for Kenneth E. Yeager age 95 of Briarfield at Manor West, formerly of S. Canfield-Niles Rd., Austintown who died Tuesday morning at Briarfield. Ken was born April 30, 1908 in Austintown and was the son of Thomas E. and Bertha (Schisler) Yeager. He had first worked for the Ohio Works of U.S. Steel and then worked for the Youngstown Foundry and retired from Wean United in 1973 where he had been superintendent of the roll shop. Ken was a member of the Austintown Community Church, charter member of the Austintown Vol. Fire Dept., charter member of the Austintown Volunteer Fire Dept. Inc. and charter member of the Austintown Fireman’s Club Inc.. He had also served as assistant Fire Chief for many years and as acting chief on many occasions. His wife, the former Sophia (Matthes) Yeager whom he married July 21, 1931 died Feb. 28, 1989. He is survived by one son Richard and his wife LavinaYeager of Austintown and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters Velma Yeager, Lucy Beeman and four brothers Robert, Lee, Wade and Lloyd Yeager. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 PM Thursday and 1 hour prior to services on Friday. The family requests that material contributions be made to the Austintown Community Church.
