KENNETH G. WELCH Age 83 Canfield- Services celebrating the life of Kenneth Welch will be held at 11 am Thursday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Canfield. Ken was born March 3, 1932 in Austintown the son of Howard and Clara Riebe Welch. Ken is a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church where he was very active serving as a Worship assistant and did home visitation. He was a certified lay supply pastor; he served breakfast monthly at Victory Lutheran Church and was Treasurer for the Operation Learning Community program. He graduated from Austintown Fitch in 1950. He retired in 1999 from McDonald Steel where he was in inside sales for many years. Ken was the first Treasurer and served on the steering committee for Shepard of the Valley in Niles. He was a volunteer for serving Meals on Wheels, was past president for Canfield Band Boosters. He was a proud member of Western Mahoning County Kiwanis Club where he was a member of the board of directors and was one of Santa's helpers at Farmers National Bank with Kiwanis. Ken will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 50 years Kay Hipple Welch whom he married July 17, 1965, daughter Susan (Micah) Stevens of Findlay and love of his life granddaughter Kirsten Marie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard, Jack, Melvin and sisters, Beatrice Shivley, Mildred Skeravich and Norma Mae Welch. The Welch family would like to thank the staff of Shepherd of the Valley for their care and kindness shown to Ken and his family during his stay. Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm Wednesday at the Lane Family Funeral Home Austintown Chapel and from 10-11 am Thursday at the church prior to services. The Welch family requests material contributions take the form of donations to the church memorial fund in Ken's name.
