Kenneth J. Stewart, 75, of Champion Twp., OH formerly of San Jose, CA passed away early Saturday morning, June 18, 2011 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown following a short illness. He was born on September 19, 1935 in Kittery, Maine and was the son of the late Robert K. and Grace (Cummings) Stewart. A 1953 graduate of Portsmouth High School, Ken went on to proudly serve our country for more than twenty-four years in the United States Navy before retiring as a Chief Radioman in 1985. Following his retirement, he would go on to work as a realtor for Century 21 near San Jose, CA for nearly twenty-years before retiring in 2005. In his leisure time Ken enjoyed working on and building motorcycles and was known to enjoy collecting countless classic movies. He will be dearly missed by his sister Connie Zukowski and her husband Paul of Champion with whom he made his home; his nieces Tamara Miller and her husband Steve of Arkansas, and Susan Downs and her husband Tim of Champion, OH; nephew Charles Starratt and his wife Sylvia of Arkansas; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Betty Hill who raised him, and by a sister Rose Marie Norton. The Rev. Kenneth Hopkins will conduct a graveside funeral service on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 11:00AM at the Champion Township Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the Trumbull County Veterans Honor Guard immediately following. The family requests that any contributions in Ken's memory be made to the Animal Rescue Charity. Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
