Larry Ray Parker, age 63, of Cortland, Ohio, died Monday, November 5, 2007, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on April 28, 1944 in Belton, Texas the son of the late Raymond Parker and the late Ada Mae Smith. Mr. Parker was a veteran of the United States Army having served two tours of duty as a bridge specialist during Viet Nam. He retired from Packard Electric in 1999 as a Cutter Technician where he had worked for 30 years. Larry was an avid golfer and had worked at Tamer Win Golf Course after his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and skeet shooting and had served as past Director of Greenville Sportsmans Club. Larry also enjoyed boating and was a member of Cortland Conservation Club. He was past officer of the former Goldwing Road Riders of PA & OH and he was an avid reader and history buff. Larry was happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends and was especially grateful for the prayers and outpouring of love shown during the past year. He is survived by his wife Patricia K. (Petro) Parker, whom he married on October 6, 1978. Two sons, Jeff (Traci) Popowich of Howland and Larry R. (Joan) Parker Jr. of West Hazelton, PA. One daughter, Chris (Dale) Yommer of Eau Claire, PA., one brother, Charles J. (Rhonda) Parker of Cortland and by his step father, Manson Smith of Vienna, OH. Larry is also survived by eleven grandchildren and one great grandson. One grandson preceded him in death. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel, 164 North High Street, Cortland, Ohio, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, November 8, 2007. Funeral service will be at Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel at 11:00 AM Friday, November 9, 2007 where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
