Larry V. Fickes I

Larry V. Fickes, I, age 78 of Niles, Ohio, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 2:25 PM at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren. He was born on July 7, 1936 in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late Vere E. and Blanche Barnard Fickes. Larry was retired in 1996 from Amweld, which was located in Niles, after 26 years of service. Larry enjoyed gambling, taking trips to the Amish country, and riding his Harley in his earlier years. He was very proud and enjoyed his family. Mr. Fickes was also honorably discharged from the US Army during peacetime. Survivors include his wife, the former Joyce Conn, whom he married on October 15, 1996; his children, Russell (Kim) Fickes of Beaufort, SC, Larry (Olga) Fickes, II of Warren, Guy (Paula) Fickes of Warren, Michelle Fickes of Lake Milton, and Norma (Ray) Raschilla of Howland; his step-children, Christina Gonzalez of St. Cloud, FL, Michelle Pankuch of Niles, Chuck (Debbie) Brock of Florida, Clara Mundell of St. Cloud, FL, and Kim (Jack) McGill of Cocoa, FL; 29 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; his brother, Bill (Betty) Fickes of Leavittsburg and his sister, Judy (Jim) Griffith of Bristolville; and his mother-in-law, Kathleen Conn of Niles. Other than his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his siblings, Ronnie Fickes, Dorothy Pavick, and Blanche Marcello; father-in-law, Ollie Conn. Memorial services will take place at the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Mineral Ridge Chapel on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 7:00 PM. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 PM until the time of the service.
