LORDSTOWN- Funeral services will be held 3 PM Sat. at the Lane Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel for Lavada Cassidy age 83, who died Friday in Whitmore Lake, Michigan due to injuries from an auto accident. Lavada was born Feb. 18,1920 in North Jackson, OH., the daughter of Robert and Cora Vandervort Jerome and was a life-long resident of Lordstown She retired in 1993 from Fairhaven School in Niles, as a nurse administrator after 30 years and had previously worked for Bascom Elementary for 8 years and was a 1941 graduate of Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing. She was a member of Lordstown Christian Church and loved to travel and collect shells. She gave many talks to organizations about the origin of shells as well as giving speeches about health related issues and mental retardation. She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Cassidy whom she married in 1941. She also leaves a daughter Barbara Cassidy of Phoenix, AZ, two grandchildren Michael S. (Nicole) Cassidy of Lordstown, Douglas J. (Christina) Cassidy of Austintown, four great grandchildren, Alicia, Jessica, Kaitlynne and Michael II. She was preceded in death by a son John Cassidy, a sister Effie Addicott and three brothers Earl, Marvin and Louis Richmond. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 PM Friday and 1 hour prior to services on Saturday. The family requests that material contributions take the form of donations to the Diabetes Foundation
