Services will be 10 am Saturday at Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Lawrence E. “Elmer” Greathouse, 89, of Austintown formerly of Andover, who passed away early Tuesday morning at his home. Larry was born August 22, 1915 in Marietta Ohio, Washington County, the daughter of William V. and Della (Haut) Greathouse. He worked as a roller with U.S. Steel for forty three years retiring in 1976. Larry was a former the Eagles Club in both Girard and Austintown. He leaves nine children: Betty Jean (Al) Mikulka of Austintown, William V. (Nancy Greathouse of Burghill, Richard (Lois) Greathouse of Hubbard, Mary Ann Stamp of Austintown, Roger E. (Jeanie) Greathouse of Hubbard, Carol R. (Gary) Kibler of Alamogordo New Mexico, Margie M. Lytle of Austintown, Daniel H. (Cindie) Greathouse of Masury , and Doris I (Dave) Schertzer with whom he made his home. Larry also leaves thirty grandchildren, fifty seven great grandchildren and twenty one great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Florence Lee whom he married October 14, 1932, one grandson, five sisters and two brothers. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Friday and from 9 to 10 am Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
