Leah Goddard, 87 Canfield: Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 19th at Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 West Main Street, Canfield for Leah Goddard, 87 of Canfield who died Tuesday afternoon at Shepherd of the Valley, Boardman after a brief illness. Leah was born May 26, 1927 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Isaiah and Lillian Kern Rickert and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Boardman High School and received her Psychology degree from Muskingum College. A member of Canfield Presbyterian Church for 58 years, she was a devout Christian and sang in the choir for many years. She served as church secretary for over 15 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed bowling and was an amateur tennis player and avid fan. Leah also loved doing puzzles including crosswords and word searches. She was fond of animals, especially dogs and cats, and had many beloved pets over the years. Her husband, Arden Goddard whom she married on October 1, 1955, died November 3, 1960. She leaves her three sons, John (Nancy) Goddard of Lordstown, David (Sherry) Goddard of Canfield, Mark Goddard of Cleveland and three grandchildren, Danielle, Amy and Vincent. Besides her parents and her husband, Leah was preceded in death by a brother, John Rickert. Friends may call on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel. The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Operation Blessing, c/o Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main Street, Canfield, OH 44406.
