ATTY. LEONARD A. "BUD" OLSON CANFIELD--- There will be services at ll:00 A.M. Friday at First Covenant Church for Atty. Leonard A. "Bud" Olson, 85, formerly of Boardman, who died Sunday afternoon at The Inn at Ironwood. Atty. Olson was born December 10, 1927 in Youngstown, a son of Carl Leonard and Florence Ruth Linstrum Olson. He was a 1945 graduate of South High School, afterwards he joined the U.S. Army. Bud then graduated from Youngstown College in 1949. He received his Juris Doctorate in 1953 from the law school of Youngstown College and admitted to the Ohio Bar later that year. Bud practiced law with the firm of Newman, Olson, & Kerr where he was a partner and share holder for many years. He recently retired a few years ago. He was a member of the Mahoning County, Ohio, and American Bar Associations. Bud sat on the board of directors for Goodwill Industries, People's Bank, later Society Bank, the Arnold and Helen Stambaugh Foundation, and North Park College in Chicago. He was also very active in both the county and state Republican Party. Bud was a life long member of First Covenant Church where he held many offices including Chairman of the Church. He was a member of Sulgrave Lodge #696 F. & A.M., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown, Al Koran Shrine Temple in Cleveland, and the Youngstown Shrine Club. Bud belonged to the Youngstown Country Club and the former Youngstown Club. His other memberships included the Sigma Club, and the former Vasa Lodge #465 Vasa Order of America, and the Norsemen Club. Bud was an avid golfer, loved playing cards, and enjoyed fishing. He loved to travel and had visited many countries. His biggest enjoyment though was spending time with his grandkids and attending their sporting events. He leaves his wife of 64 years, the former Dolores A. "Dolly" Ipe whom he married June 5, 1948; his daughter, Debi (Jim) Nagle of Boardman and his son, Doug Olson of Troy, Michigan; his grandchildren, Bill, Jessica, Erika, and Carl Alan Olson and Katie Beth, Benjamin, and Rob Nagle; sister-in-laws, Helen (Bob) Law and Sally Gillies. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert A. Olson, and his brothers, Norman, Kenneth, and Leroy Olson. A brother William also died in infancy. Friends may call from 4 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Anstrom Chapel, 8387 Tod Ave. in Boardman, and from 10 to 11:00 A.M. Friday at the church prior to the service.
