Lester Alan Ayres, 68, formally of Mecca died Monday October 12, 2015 at 5:08 pm at his home. Lester was born on March 23 1947 in Cambridge, a son of the late Everett Lloyd and Delma Irene (Atkinson) Ayres. Lester attended West Farmington High School. He worked at Packard Electric on the line as a slitter operator, he retired after 32 years. Lester was a proud member of the Cortland Moose Lodge and the VFW. In his free time he enjoyed watching Westerns, doing crossword puzzles and cryptograms, spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoying time with his Cortland Moose Lodge Family. He will be sadly missed by his children; Von Rae Alvarez, of Norris, SC David Ayres, of Cortland who he made his home with, Douglas (Christine) Ayres, of Warren and Kimberly Ayres, of Cortland, two brothers; Leonard (Rose) Ayres, of Warren, Greg Ayres, of Florida, five sisters; Rosalie (Ronald) Cazares, of Kansas, Kathy (Dieter) Justice, of Virginia Cynthia Montgomery, of Newton Falls, Pam Abrams and Peggie Miller both of Salem. Lester is also survived by his grandchildren; Tabitha (Eric) Reis, Brittany (Michael) Colello, Carrie Ayres, Zachery Thorp, Hope Alvarez, Cierra Ayres, Summer Rose Thorp, and Donevan Ayres and one great grandchild Pepper Reis. Besides his parents Lester was preceded in death by his brothers Rodney, Ed, John and Terry and a grandson Sean Lendon. Funeral services will be held Friday October 16, 2015 at 6 pm at Lane family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel 164 N. High Street 44410 with Celebrant Randi Pappa honoring Lester's life. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services.
