Lida Junior Osborn

Lida Junior "Ozzy" Osborn, 87 of Warren, died Tuesday evening, March 10, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 4, 1927 in Gale, West Virginia the son of the late Robert and Gertrude Moss Osborn. He has lived in Trumbull county since 1950 coming from West Virginia. Lida served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army peacekeeping force during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He served in Japan with the 11th Airborne Angels and the 675th Glider battallion. He worked for 35 years as a crane operator at Copperweld Steel, retiring in 1987. Lida was of the Christian faith, growing up in the Methodist church. When his son was in scouts, he served as Boy Scout scoutmaster with the troop at First Methodist Church in Warren. He was an active member of the YMCA in Warren and enjoyed traveling, bird watching, hunting and fishing, astronomy, karate and yardwork. He was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with his family, most especially at the family vacation cabin in Virginia. Lida is survived by his wife, Vadis G. Carpenter Osborn, whom he married July 4, 1946; one daughter, Caron (Jon) Kovacs of Howland; six grandchildren, David Osborn, Thomas Osborn, Jonathan (Amy) Hart, Jocelyn (Sean) Dougherty, Eric (Ashley) Kovacs and Jennifer (Lee) Silvis; five great grandchildren, James and Chelsea Osborn, Landin and Christopher Hart and Asher Dougherty; one sister, Madelene Booth of Buckhannon, WVa.; nieces and nephews, MaryJo Beam, Bonnie Gooden and Robert Beam all of Buckhannon and Darolyn Terbovich, Breanna Carpenter and Jimmy Carpenter all of Warren. One son, David Junior Osborn died in 2010; one grandson, William J. "Billy" Osborn died in 2005; one sister, Ruth Phillips and her husband Wilbert and two brothers, Guy and Steve Osborn and their spouses, Margaret and Susan also have preceded him in death. The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice for their loving and compassionate care shown to Lida. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Pastor Glenn Hamilton officiating.
