Lillian Libert

Niles - Lillian Libert, 92, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2014 surrounded by her family, at the home of her daughter, Pat. She was born on May 16, 1922 to Jacob and Jennie Gomsey in Nanty Glo, PA. Following graduation from Howland High School in 1940, she was employed by Republic Steel and later by Sunlight Electric as a defense worker during WWII. In 1943, she married Thomas Nass and together they had 5 daughters. She moved to Coolidge, AZ in 1991, following her second marriage to Lawrence Libert. In Arizona, she was employed by ATPC as a MR II worker, caring for mentally and physically challenged individuals, which she described as her most rewarding position. She also became a member of the United Methodist Church of Coolidge. Following the death of her husband in 1994, Lillian moved back to Ohio and resided at Shepherd of the Valley Apartments and became a member at Zion Lutheran Church. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Penny; her sister, Lennie Gardlock, grandson, Marc Renner, and husband, Lawrence. Surviving are daughters, Carol (Larry) Renner of Avondale, AZ; Patricia (Don) Kale of Girard, OH; Judy (Dave) Bartizal of Hudson, WI; and Connie Slyter of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren -- Jill (Gary) Fitzgerald, Todd (Connie) Renner, Shaylean (Slyter) Anderson, Kevin Hyer, and Kellie Hyer; eight great-grandchildren-- Alhana, Tatum, Mike, Sophia, Alexander, Blake, Olivia and Naomi; and sister, Beverly (Joseph) Natoli of Largo, FL. Memorial services are planned for Saturday, September 6th, at 11:00 at Shepherd of the Valley Chapel in Niles, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests tributes be sent to Hospice of the Valley or Zion Lutheran Church Food Pantry. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley, the 3rd floor nursing staff of St. Joseph's Hospital, and Dr. Eddy and his staff for their kindness and compassion in their care o Lillian.
