Lois M. Smith

MECCA- Lois M. Smith, 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. She was born on December 17, 1941 in Warren, Ohio, daughter of the late, John and Elizabeth (Hill) Duncan. Lois was a lifetime resident of Mecca. Lois married her late husband, Ernest R. Smith on June 28, 1963. Lois was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, and enjoyed watching the game show channel, playing poker and board games. She participated in bowling leagues, played volleyball and was known for her sense of humor. Lois loved to cook and she was known to feed the whole neighborhood when they were hungry. She will be missed by all who knew her. Lois is survived by her children, David L. Smith, Daniel B. Smith, Dennis R. (Leann) Smith, Joanne M. (Brian) Day and Julie A. (Brian) Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Trisha (Steve) Herald, Brian Day Jr, Carlie Lawrence, Brian Lawrence Jr, Annabella Smith, Morgan Smith, and Savannah Smith; three great grandchildren, Angel Kelley, Faith Day and Zachary Kirchens; four sisters, Mary (Robert) Getts, Ruth Smith, Helen Manes, and Eileen Boyd; and two brothers, Robert Duncan and Harry (Esther) Duncan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ernest R. Smith on September 28, 2012; her daughter, Jennifer L. Smith on March 25, 2008; her parents and siblings, James Duncan and Doris Warren. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer Winans Chapel, 164 North High Street, Cortland. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Reverend Ron McIlvaine officiating.
