Louis J. Bartlo Youngstown- Private services were held for Louis J. Bartlo, 82 who died on Friday August 29, 2014. He was born in Youngstown, a son of Carl and Edith Bartlo. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and received his degree in metallurgy from Youngstown State University in 1961. He was employed by RMI Titanium Co. for 37 years and held various management positions and retired in 1991 as general manager of quality assurance and chief metallurgist. He authorized and published a number of technical papers on titanium development and was granted several patents on titanium processing. He was a past member of the American Society for Metals, American Chemical Society, American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers and the Wire Association. For a number of years he was an honorary faculty member of the Metals Engineering Institute of the American Society for Metals. He was an air force veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed outdoor activities fishing, RVing and spending the winter months with his wife on South Padre Island, Texas. His wife of 48 years, the former Norma Riccitelli died March 13, 2004. Beside his wife he was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children Carla (Larry) Bako of Mineral Ridge and Louis (Joyce) Bartlo Jr., of Austintown, six grandchildren Andy, Danielle and Lauren Bako and Ashley, Kaitlin and Louis Bartlo II, and six great-grandchildren Cameron, Rosalie, Stella, Olivia, Dominic and Sofia.
