Louise Catherine Biggin, age 94, formerly of Cortland, died at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. She was born September 22, 1915 in Columbiana County the daughter of the late Bert and Erma Ertley Tate. She lived in Howland for over 10 years, moving from Cortland. Louise was a 1934 graduate of Cortland High School and worked in the payroll department at Packard Electric for 22 years, retiring May 1, 1974. She was an active member of Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers. Louise was an avid Bridge player and belonged to several Bridge clubs. She loved golf and played on several area leagues, including three at Tamer Win Golf Course and a traveling league. She had enjoyed league bowling and bowled on several leagues and the Packard Electric team. Louise served as a Mobile Meals volunteer. Her husband, James Delbert Biggin, whom she married September 27, 1935 preceded in death August 17, 1965. Two sisters, Lois Shafer (her twin sister) and Margaret Reid and three brothers, Harold and Ralph Tate and infant Robert Tate all have preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Barbara B. (Jack) Rogers of Howland; two grandchildren, Deidre (Donald) Petrosky of Cortland and Jay Rogers of Warren; six great grandchildren, Nichole (Scott) Robinette; Katie, David and Hannah Petrosky and Jason and Zachary Rogers and two great great granddaughters, Lily and Lana Robinette. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m.on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Cortland. . The family wishes to thank the staff of Shepherd of the Valley in Howland for their attentive and loving care given to Louise.
