Louise Szabo

Louise N. (Nims) Szabo, 91 of Cortland passed away at 7pm on Monday January 19, 2009 at Gillette's Nursing Home. Louise was born on January 20, 1917 in Greene Twp., Ohio to Arthur L. and Ethel (Dillon) Nims. A lifetime area resident, Louise graduated from Greene High School in 1935. She worked at Packard Electric as a Job Instructor for 31 years, retiring in 1978. She enjoyed traveling, word puzzles, and being around her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Louise is a member of Fowler Community Church where belonged to the Willing Workers Ladies Group. She is survived by her two children; Phyllis Byler of Cortland, Richard (Carolyn) Szabo of Cortland; 5 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John L. Szabo on July 2, 1965. They married on April 13, 1936. Five sisters and one brother preceded her and also one son in law, Freeman Byler. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 22, 2009 at 11am at the Shafer Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Dugan Cemetery in Fowler Twp. The family has asked that material contributions be made in Louise's memory to the American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, Ohio 44514.
