Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Marjorie Filmer who died Sunday morning. Mrs. Filmer was born March 21, 1909 in Ashtabula, Ohio the daughter of Ellwood and Lucetta (Sterner) Harrar. Mrs. Filmer lived most of her life in Canfield. In her later years she moved to Boardman to live with her daughter. Mrs. Filmer was a member of Struthers Baptist Tabernacle Church for 57 years where she had been a Sunday school teacher and on the board of the Christian Woman’s Club. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, writing poetry, and loved to read. She was a graduate of South High School and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by daughter Judy (Jim) Lewis with whom she had made her home, sons Dr. David ( Dr. Christiane Keck) Filmer of West Lafayette, IN, Richard ( Fran) Filmer of Chittenango, NY, Ted (Jean) Filmer of Canfield, 15 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred “Jack” Filmer whom she married September 1, 1931 died July 23, 1986, brothers Dr. Ellwood S. and Dr. J. George Harrar. Friends may call from 5-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial tributes be made to Shepherds Home, 1805 15th Ave., Union Grove, WI 53182-1597.
