Mabel M. Daff, 100, passed away Wednesday afternoon at Hospice House, surrounded by family. She was born January 12, 1909 in Blaine City, PA, daughter of the late Leo and Ella (Drummer) Weakland. A homemaker, she was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and had served many years as a precinct worker of the Mahoning County Board of Elections. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, bingo, traveling, casinos, and family gatherings. Her husband, Harry G. Daff, Sr., whom she married August 29, 1929, passed away March 8, 1980. Mable is survived by three children: Jeannette Haselow of Austintown, Leo J. (Sarah) of Coitsville, Twp., and Harry G. (Beverly) Daff Jr. of Austintown: Lois Daff (wife of Richard H. Daff) of Cleveland; sisters: Margaret Wickham of Washington, Pauline LaRoss of Florida, and Cecelia Fahnstock of Pennsylvania; a brother: John Weakland of Oregon; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren, and sixteen great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Mabel was preceded in death by a son Richard H. Daff; three sisters: Thelma Clark, Isabella Weakland, and Katherine Reese; a brother: James Weakland and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Austintown, preceded by a short prayer service at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of The Hospice House.
