Margaret Dravesky

Margaret A. Dravesky, 82, of Cortland, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015 following a lengthy illness. She was born on March 22, 1933 in Hubbard, Ohio, daughter of the late, Frank and Nellie (Potock) Wozniak. Marge has been a resident of Cortland since 1958. Marge was well-known for her enthusiasm and humor, as well as her creative and compassionate efforts throughout her long life. A 1952 graduate of Hubbard High School, she married her husband, Robert, on August 20, 1955. Marge graduated from Choffin School of Nursing in 1973. She was employed by Warren General and Trumbull Memorial Hospitals, plus several long-term health care facilities and private duty assignments for over 25 years. An accomplished seamstress, Marge designed and made her own clothes and outfitted girls for weddings, dances, skating and majorette teams. In 1982 she founded Handi Helpers, a business dedicated to helping handicapped and special-needs people with clothing assistance. She published a how-to booklet and video and frequently spoke and taught on the subject. She was a paid and volunteer staffer for the American Red Cross and a volunteer with the American Heart Association. Marge's sewing column in the Tribune Chronicle "Seems Sew New" appeared weekly throughout the 1980's and early 90's. In addition to her health care, sewing and publishing careers, Marge enjoyed cooking and canning, gardening, reading, crafts, travel and camping. She was a member of St. Robert's Catholic Church in Cortland. Marge will be deeply missed by her family and many friends, neighbors, co-workers, former patients and readers. Marge is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Dravesky and son, Raymond Dravesky of Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and a son, Steven. A Private inurnment with be held at a later date in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta. In lieu of gifts and flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Animal Welfare League, P.O. Box 66, Vienna, Ohio 44473.
