Margaret Susie Cunningham

Margaret "Susie" Cunningham went to heavenly rest on Friday, March 25, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with cancer She has gone to meet her husband, Robert Taylor Cunningham, whom she married on August 17, 1959. Susie was a talented artist, winning many awards for her beautiful watercolors. She also loved to cook, quilt, fish, ballroom dance and put together her many, many puzzles. Susie obtained her dental hygiene degree from Youngstown State University. She also attended Ohio State University for advanced professional dental training. She retired from Dr. Ralph Brock DDS dental practice in Champion. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob; a brother, Randall M. Campbell and a sister, Cindy L. Greene. Susie is survived by one daughter, Susan L. (Marty) Thomas of Cortland; one son, Robert "Randy" Cunningham of Mebane, NC; four grandchildren, Jared (Lyndsay) Thomas, Rachel (Joshua) Nutt, Jacob Thomas and Maranda Cunningham; one great grandson, Nathan Robert Thomas and two brothers, Richard G. Campbell of Howland and John T. Campbell of Palm Bay, Fla. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her. In her final years, Susie was lovingly cared for by both staff and personnel at Concord Care Center of Cortland; and she loved them in return. This is a gift we, the family, can never repay. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Windham Cemetery in Windham. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406.
