AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - On Tuesday, May 1, the Son shone down with open arms and welcomed Margie Zatchok to her eternal home. She was 82. Margie was born December 7, 1935 to David and Helen (Price) Mills. She was the fourth of five children and raised on a farm in Austintown…yes, she was a farmers daughter. She graduated from Fitch High School in 1953 and worked for General Fireproofing. Then she fell in love. Were not sure if it was the 1950 Olds convertible or the cool bad boy behind the wheel but her dad was not too happy. Shortly after, with maybe a nod of consent, she married John Zatchok on May 12, 1956. While living in a one bedroom apartment, they had two children, Jeff and Susie, then shortly after bought a house in Austintown fit for a family and still lived in that same house at the time of her passing. Margie was an amazing person who lived an amazing life. She was a loving and devoted wife, a nurturing mother, proud grandmother and she finally achieved her dream status as "a great" (great-grandmother). Camping was a big part of her life since meeting the Connollys and Millers over 40 years ago. The three families "roughed it" every year and where do you think she was just last week…with the Connollys up at the lake cleaning out the trailer when she was stricken. She was a true camper even earning the "golden marshmallow stick" courtesy of the Connollys grandsons, Charlie and Daniel Bancroft, for her perfectly patient roasting technique. She loved the Lord and the life He blessed her with. She did her best to keep up with John whether they were geocaching, camping, visiting the "greats" or hitting up Taco Bell and Wendys. Her fruit salad will be missed and well never know the secret ingredient. Well now be able to call the house from 7-8PM because it was a rule to not call and interrupt Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy…if you did, it was pretty much a one way conversation. The never ending supply of taco sauce packets in the fridge will probably dwindle and we wont have to take any more pictures for "grandmas funeral". She loved the Lord and her family more than anything and unselfishly always put others before herself. She was a dear and loyal friend to many. She was persistent at times and not one to back off. She liked to run things and delegate…there was a job for everyone. She is leaving us with wonderful memories and funny stories. She definitely left her mark and will not be forgotten. She leaves her husband of almost 62 years, John; two children, Jeff (Nancy) Zatchok and Susie Forde; four grandchildren, Christopher (Kristen) Forde of Pittsburgh, Carly (Mark) Raseta of Canfield, Jake (fiance, Sara Walker) Zatchok of Canfield and Jeffrey (Kailyn) Zatchok of Salem and three great-grandchildren, Maddox Raseta, Beckham Zatchok and Roman Forde with one more on the way. She also leaves a sister, Patricia Hale of Austintown, a brother, Tom Mills of McDonald; an "adopted son", Jason Stilson of Boardman who she helped raise; a cousin, Father Richard Lambert of Youngstown; dear friends, Jim and Janeice Connolly; the Bancroft and Miller families; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members, church family and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents; a sister, Betty (David) Mumbaugh; a brother, David Mills; a sister-in-law, Brenda Mills and a brother-in-law, Fred Hale. My legacy, " I pray that all would see that I loved the Lord with all my heart and strength. Love doesn't die people do, so when I die, give what's of me in your heart away to someone less fortunate. I am only out of sight...all is well. Jesus is the answer." Earth wont be the same without her but Heaven is in for a pleasant surprise…make way…things are gonna change. Margie likes to be in charge! Calling hours will be held at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Wedgewood Park Evangelical Church with Pastor Andrew Carr officiating.
