Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 9th at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Anstrom Chapel, 8387 Tod Ave., Boardman for Maria Socha Wisniewski, 91 who died early Wednesday at Caprice Health Care Center. Maria was born September 16, 1924 in Poland Europe, coming to this area in 1954 with her husband. She was a lifetime member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, a member of Free Polish Krakusy Society, Krakusy Hall Group #46, and the Polish Auxiliary to the Veterans Post #14. She had helped with the wounded coming back from the front lines during World War II. Maria also enjoyed being a part of the Polish National Women's Alliance. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and cooking and according to her family made the best stuffed cabbages. Her husband, Michael Socha whom she married in 1942, died in 1957. She married Walter Wisniewski in 1998 and he also is deceased. Maria leaves her daughter, Christine Simon of Massillon; three sons, Henry (Carole) Socha of Youngstown, John (Kathy) Socha of Struthers, Stanley (Donna) Socha of Canfield; 12 grandchildren, Sylvie Gallech, Michael Socha, Philippe Socha, Kevin R. Simon, Melissa Simon, Wayne Socha, John Socha Jr., Mark Socha, Joseph Socha, Daniel Socha, Kevin Socha and Stanley R. Socha. Maria also leaves 10 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husbands, Maria was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Socha and a granddaughter, Lisa Socha. Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thanks to everyone at Caprice Health Care Center for their wonderful care given to Maria.
