Marian Louise Dorcas

Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday at Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Marian Louise Dorcas who passed away Monday morning at Hospice House. Marian was born January 16, 1923 in Coalburg, OH a daughter of the late James and Sallie J. (Lobb) McGowen. A graduate of Boardman High School, she retired in 1985, after 29 years in sales at Penney's and Almart. She also worked as a secretary at Cutler Hammer. Marian was a member of the Canfield Methodist Church, a 60 year member of the Eastern Star Miriam Chapter No. 278, Ruth Shrine #64 Order of White Shrine and the Supreme Caldron. Her husband, Robert E. Dorcas, whom she married October 7, 1940, passed away May 29, 2005. Marian is survived by one son: William R. (Amy) Dorcas of Canfield; three grandchildren: William R. (Sandy) Dorcas Jr., Marilyn Blasko, and Stephany (Jeff) Stewart; and seven great grandchildren: Kathryn Dorcas, Carlyn Dorcas, Logan Dorcas, Justin Blasko, Joshua Blasko, Madison Stewart, and Sydney Stewart. Besides her parents and husband, Marian is preceded in death by one daughter Lynne Dorcas; one sister Jean Grove, and five brothers: Donald, Keith, Glendon, Stanley, and Edwin McGowen.
