Marie Murcko

Mrs. Marie Murcko, 95, formerly of Brookfield, passed away late Sunday evening, January16, 2011, at Village Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in New York City, NY. She was born on June 8, 1915, in Manhattan, New York, the daughter of the late Timothy and Stephanie (Kozak) Karniewich. Following her graduation from high school and several years as an office worker, she met and married Stephen P. Murcko on December 8, 1945, at Old St. Mary's Catholic Church in San Francisco. Together they would share more than forty-three years of marriage and had two daughters, Denise and Susan. Mrs. Murcko was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sharon, PA and had more recently attended St. Vincent de Paul Church in Vienna, OH. Throughout her life she enjoyed reading, travel, swimming and hiking, and flower and vegetable gardening around her home. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Susan Murcko and her son-in-law Michael Hill of Hoboken, NJ; her son-in-law Peter Wilms of Westerville, OH; her twin sister Paris Rippe, of Juneau, AK; her sister Helen Nalesnik of Falls Village, CT, and five grandchildren: Britt Czupryna of Skokie, IL; Courtney Wilms of Evanston, IL; Leah Wilms of Chicago, IL; Stephen Hill of Hoboken, NJ, and Claire Hill of Hoboken, NJ. Two great-grandchildren, Zoe and Luke Czupryna, also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Steve on January 30, 1989, her daughter Denise Wilms, two brothers and a sister. Private Calling Hours will be held at the Madasz Funeral Chapel 6923 Warren-Sharon Road in Brookfield, OH 44403. Closing prayers will begin at 9:15 AM on Saturday January 22, 2011 at the funeral home immediately to be followed by the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, St. Vincent de Paul Church 4453 Warren-Sharon Road Vienna, Ohio 44473. Burial will be with her husband at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hermitage, PA.
