Marilyn Loretta Davis

Marilyn L. (Taylor) Davis, age 63, of Cortland died Wednesday at 10:35 am at her home following a short illness. She was born August 12, 1942 in Howland Township the daughter of Horace Edward and Willie Blanche (Jones) Taylor. She was a Howland resident for many years moving to Cortland in 1993. Marilyn was a 1960 graduate of McDonald High School and was of the Methodist faith. She was very artistic and especially loved painting dolls and home decor. She was a master furniture refinisher and enjoyed gardening. Marilyn had always been active with her children's activities as they were growing up and loved spending time with her family. She loved her dog, Lovey, all animals and nature. Marilyn was always caring, loving and thoughful and had a great sense of humor. She is survived by her husband Thomas J. Davis whom she married October 26, 1963; one daughter, Laurie E. Cortman of Sarasota, FL; one son, Richard T. (Theresa) Davis of Champion Twp.; two grandchildren, Nicolette and Thomas Davis; one sister, Virginia Palmer of Lakeland, FL; two brothers, William Taylor of Estero, FL and Robert Taylor of Buena Park, CA. Her parents and one sister, Helen Greminger, all preceded in death. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11:00 am Monday, July 3, 2006 with Pastor David Vensel officiating. Burial will be in Dugan Cemetery in Fowler.
