Marjorie Herschel Dockry died peacefully at her home Thursday, October 14, 2010, surrounded by members of her loving family. Marjorie was born on April 11, 1926 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Mary Vera McFarland and Henry H. Herschel. She was a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Saint Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1947. In addition, while raising nine children, she earned her Bachelor in Health Education Degree from Youngstown State University, graduating Cum Laude in 1969. Marjorie worked as a nurse at the local hospitals and in the office of Dr. Barclay Brandmiller in Youngstown, Ohio. In addition, Marjorie was an active member of many local organizations including the Catholic Nurses Association, Saint Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing Alumni, Catholic Collegiate, Three Arts Club, and the Friends Luncheon Club. She and her husband were founding members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and were speakers and mentors in the Pre-Cana movement sponsored by the Diocese of Youngstown. Marjorie married Donald R. Dockry MD in 1950 and resided in Austintown. She is survived by their nine children: Ann LaCivita of Ann Arbor, Michigan; Bart (Terry) Dockry of Canfield, Joan (Abe) Ghods of Mansfield, Pennsylvania; Michael (Marie) Dockry of Austintown; Molly (Patrick) Roche of Austintown; Donald (Paulette) Dockry of Austintown; Thomas Dockry of Washington, DC; Marjorie (John) Bianco of Hubbard and Shawn Dockry also of Austintown. Foremost a mother and grandmother, Marjorie will be sadly missed by her 17 grandchildren: Brendan and Megan LaCivita; Maran (Neil) Perry and Conor Dockry; Jason, Janon and Janie Ghods; Michelle, Kaitlin and Andrea Dockry; Shane, Kara, and Kacie Roche; Courtney Dockry; and Ian and Mackenzie Pinkerton and Mariah Lunde and one great -grandchild Claire Perry. Marjorie leaves a sister, Ann Louise Mika of Salem. Besides her husband and her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her brothers George and Bernard Herschel and sister Mary Joan Herschel Janosik. Family will receive friends on Monday, October 18, 2010 from 5 until 8 pm in the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel. Closing Prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel preceded by a Mass of Christian at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with the Reverend Monsignor Kenneth Miller officiating. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Dr. Donald R. and Marjorie H. Dockry Scholarship Fund.
