Memorial services will be held at 11am Monday at the Canfield Presbyterian Church for Marjorie J. Roman, 79, who died Wednesday morning at Northside Medical Center in Youngstown. She was born May 31, 1931 in Chicago, the daughter of Adlai and Inez (Opper) Ploense, and she came to this area in 1975. She was a 1949 graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria, IL and she attended Bradley University, also in Peoria. She had been a licensed real estate agent for 30 years working for various firms, most recently for Howard Hanna, before retiring in 2008. Prior to relocating to Canfield she did a variety things including starring in a television show that ran from 1970-1972. She also co-authored a book called "Zainy Zodiac". While living in Chicago she worked in banking and was one of the first women promoted to vice president in the country. She was a member of the Youngstown and Ohio Boards of Realtors in which she held various positions. She was also a longtime member of the Tippecanoe Country Club in Canfield and she enjoyed gardening and antiques. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Anthony W. Roman, whom she married January 19, 1951. She also leaves behind a daughter, Bridgette Roman (Michael Schwind) of Dublin; and a grandson, Brandon Schwind of Lansing, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 3-5pm Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association in Marjorie's memory.
