Mark D. Holley, age 55 of Cortland, Ohio, died on Sunday, August 17, 2014 after a sudden illness. He was born on August 8, 1959 the son of the late Elinor Waters Holley, who preceded him on June 1, 2014, and Eugene E. "Gene" Holley of Cortland, Ohio. Mark was a 1977 Grand Valley High School graduate and he also attended Akron University. He was owner operator of Soda Construction in Niles. Mark was an avid runner, hunter, and weight lifter. He was also a prolific writer. Mark was formerly on the board of directors of the Warren Family Mission, where he volunteered countless hours. Other than his father, other survivors include his daughters, Cynthia (Donald) Crane of Columbiana, and Melissa (Mike) Mitchell of Orwell; five grandchildren, Carlie, Veronica, Alannah, Luke, and Maddox; his best friend and former wife, Vickie Caraway Holley; six siblings, Paul R. (Elaine) Holley of Ashburn, VA, Russell E. Holley of Columbia, MD, Sue Ann (Phillip) Suarez of Salem, Dan A. Holley of Mentor, Craig W. (Lydia) Holley of Sewickly, PA, and Hugh R. (Joanne) Holley of Diamond. Other than his mother, Mark was preceded in death by his son, Chad W. Holley. Memorial services will be held at the Cortland United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 23, 2014, where Pastor David Vensel will celebrate Mark's life. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Wounded Warriors, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or to the Warren Family Mission, 2671 Youngstown Road, Warren, Ohio 44483.
