Mark S. Christy

Mark S. Christy of 6415 Warren-Sharon Rd., Brookfield, Ohio, died Thursday (1-5-2005) at 3:47 AM, in the Sharon Regional Health Care System, after an unexpected illness. He was 43.

Mr. Christy was born in Youngstown, Ohio on November 18, 1962, a son of George Robert Christy and Glenna F. (Nolin) Christy.

He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1981 and was the Assistant Fire Chief for the Brookfield Township Fire Department, working full-time for the department for the past 25 years. Prior to his current role, Mark had been a Volunteer beginning at the age of 15 years old for the Fire Department.

Mark had also worked for Chambers Steel where he was “jack of all trades”.

His memberships included: Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon; International Association of Fire Fighters Local #3443, where he was treasurer; and the Fire Crew at Sharon Speedway.

Mark had also helped coach his girls when they were younger in the Carl Hoffman Basketball League & Brookfield Youth Softball League.

In his spare time, Mark enjoyed hunting, going to NASCAR races, helping his neighbors & friends.

Survivors include: wife, Kendra D. (Blair) Christy, whom he married June 1, 1985; 2 daughters, Courtney N. & Hillary L. Christy, both of home; mother, Glenna Christy, also of home; and sister, Donnee S. Huffer & her husband Scott, East Palestine, Ohio; as well as countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A Fireman’s Funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Convenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon, with Rev. Thomas Willcox, Pastor and Dan Cesene, Chaplain of the Brookfield Police & Fire Depts. Calling hours will be Sunday at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield, from 12 noon until 8 PM with the family present from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in Brookfield Township Cemetery.
