Martha M. Purnell

Funeral services will be held 11am Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Martha M. Purnell, 89, of Mineral Ridge formerly of Newton Falls and Lordstown. Martha was born May 11, 1916 in Mahanoy City, PA the daughter of Franklin and Elizabeth (Skeet) Volasky and came to the area in 1941. She lived in Newton Falls from 1941 until 1958 when she and her late husband moved to Lordstown. Martha was a member of Lordstown Christian Church, and was very active with the church in her younger days, and she was a former member of the Firemen’s Auxiliary. Her husband Roland A. whom she married August 31, 1938, passed away July 10, 1966. Martha leaves one son Kenneth Alfred (Karen) Purnell of Lordstown, one sister Mary Kistler Heffelfinger of Grier City, PA, one brother Franklin Volasky of Mahanoy City, PA, four grandchildren; Ron Purnell of Austintown, Pamela Fultz and Penny Durig both of Lordstown, and Patricia Slone of Topmost, KY, as well as seven great grandchildren. Besides her husband, three sisters; Agnes Eckrode, Erma Purnell, and Elizabeth Gries are deceased. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Monday at the funeral home.
