Brookfield Martha F. Nicastro, 91, passed away Friday morning July 28, 2017 at The Manor at Autumn Hills in Niles, OH. Martha was born on May 25, 1926 in Sturgis, Mississippi, a daughter of the late George and Irene (Hannah) Ballinger. Martha was a 1944 graduate of Starkville High School in Mississippi. After high school, she married her first husband Carl Alderman on June 3, 1944 and started their family together. She was employed for ten years at Sharon Steel as a telephone operator before becoming a proud home maker. She was a former volunteer at Sharon General Hospital and Brookfield Local Schools. She enjoyed camping and traveling to Florida for the winters. She was also a Girl Scout leader for the Brownies. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Carla (Dale) Stidham and Marsha (Gary) Carlo; and a step daughter Jean (John) Wudl; three grandchildren, Nancy (Richard) Brenner, Brian Stidham, and Tim Nestor; and three great-grandchildren, Chad Stidham, Karlie Brenner, and Christian (Abby) Brenner. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Carl Alderman who passed in October of 1972 and her second husband William Nicastro, whom she married on February 26, 1977 and passed in March 2010; her sister Hazel Tucker; her brother Ralph Ballinger; 3 half brothers, Earl, Curt, and Henry Ballinger; two half sisters, Ora Moore and Nelle Ballinger. Martha had requested a private service and a caring cremation will be handled by Lane Family Funeral Homes - Madasz Chapel in Brookfield, OH. Burial will take place at a later date at Brookfield Township Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her first husband Carl.
