Martha Phipps Rogers

Canfield- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am Friday at St. Christine’s Church for Marty Rogers who died Tuesday morning. Marty was born September 2, 1915 in New Castle, PA. the daughter of John and Sarah (Henning) Shenker. Marty was a charter member of St. Christine Church and a member of the Saxon Club. She retired in 1978 from Sears Roebuck where she had been a clerk for 18 years. During WWII she worked for United Engineering in New Castle for a short time. Marty loved being with her children and grandchildren, she also loved all her friends at Ponderosa Park where she loved spending her summers. She is survived by daughter, Sally Phipps Perunko of Canfield and son Chuck (Julie) Phipps of Canfield. She also has one sister, Bertha Shenker of Austintown, 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. Marty was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph “Joby” Phipps whom she married October 9, 1935 and who died October 20. 1971 and her second husband Charles Rogers. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Minnie O’Neil, brothers, John, Mike, George Shenker and son in law, Charles Perunko. Family and friends may call from 10:30 am until 11:30 am Friday at the church prior to services. Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
