Mary A. Gasper passed away at Wood Glen Nursing Home in Dayton Wednesday evening. She was 94. Mary was born September 14, 1911 in Duquesne, PA, a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Bannik Vargas. She was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in North Jackson and loved gardening and her grandchildren. Her husband Stephen, whom she married in 1938 passed away April 12, 1996. Mary is survived by her son Paul (Maryann) of Greenford, OH; two daughters Rosemary (Richard) Blessing and Miss Maggie Gasper both of Dayton; six grandchildren: Michelle (Bob) Nesbitt, Denise (Gregg) Hoelscher, Karen Gasper, Stephanie Gasper, Patty (Thomas) Roesch, and Richard (Eveleen) Blessing Jr.; and seven great grandchildren: Alex, Gina, and Abigail Roesch, Lena Blessing, Nathaniel Hoelscher, and Kyle and Evan Nesbitt. Besides her husband and parents, Mary is preceded in death by a son Stephen Gasper, and a daughter Margaret Gasper. In honor of Mary’s love of children, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. Friends may call from 9:30- 10:30 at St. James Catholic Church in North Jackson, where a mass of Christina Burial will be offered at 10:30. The family has entrusted Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel with the arrangements.
