A private service was held on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Lane Funeral Home in Canfield for Mary E. Carano, 84, of Boardman, who passed away on Monday evening, at St. Elizabeth’s in Boardman.
Born February 9, 1937, in Youngstown, Ohio, Mary was the daughter of Nicola and Dale (Giannini) Rulli.
Mary was a 1955 graduate of East High School where she played the clarinet and became one of the first Marching Majorettes for the school. She then attended Youngstown Community College for business. In 1977 she was Secretary and Treasurer for the family business Health Environmental Loss Prevention, Inc (H.E.L.P) until 2007. She then started as President of Helpful Solutions Inc., a Women’s Business Enterprise. She finally retired in 2015 and devoted her time to enjoying her family and friends.
Mary was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church. Mary truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; cooking and entertaining for friends and family, playing cards, and spending time with her grandson, Jonathan that she affectionately called “My Jellybean.” Mary was a member of the GoGo Girls Card Club, an avid bowler, and loved football, especially the Steelers.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Carano Sr, whom she married June 13, 1959, and died on September 12, 2012. She is also preceded in death by her son, James V. Carano Jr. and her sister Catherine Rulli.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son Nick (Susan) Carano; her grandson Jonathan Carano; her sisters Josephine Janik, Marion Parish, Angela Rulli; her brothers Frank (Louise) Rulli, Anthony (Karen) Rulli, and Nick (Luann) Rulli; and her special sister in law Madeline DiRusso, and all of her nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to the Nurses and Staff at Mercy Health in Boardman, Ohio for the care and comfort given to her. All who shared in her life will cherish the time and memories with her forever.
