Mary Ellen Readman, 82 of Niles, died Thursday, October 29, 2015, at The Manor at Autumn Hills in Niles. She was born November 26, 1932 in Emporium, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruby Helen Smith Cera. She had been a Niles resident since 1950. Mary Ellen was a graduate of Niles High School and attended college. She had worked for Allied Metals and Syro Steel in the offices. She retired in 1997 after 15 years service as a benefits coordinator in the human resources department at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren. Mary Ellen had been a member of St. Stephen's Church in Niles and most recently received communion through St. Rose Church in Girard. She was an excellent baker and enjoyed reading and loved animals. She is survived by one son, John B. (Laurie Hudnall) Bates and one daughter, Christine L. (Marvin Hildreth) Hall both of Niles; four stepdaughters, Sheryl (Robert) McClain of Poland, Leslie Stredney of Howland, Karen (Curt) Downing of Fuquay Varina, NC and Barbara (Michael) Cameneti of Canton; six grandchildren, Richard J. Hall, Faith Herrera, Christopher J. Holbrook whom she raised, John B. Bates Jr., Ashley R. Bates and Brian R. Bates; three great granddaughters, Joelyn, Kylie and Myla; eight step grandchildren and twelve step great grandchildren and one brother, Joseph (Nena) Cera of Atlanta. Her husband of 28 years, John Readman, whom she married October 21, 1982 preceded her in death in 2010. One brother, James Cera and one sister, Jane Cera also preceded in death. The family will meet on Monday, November 2, 2015 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Msgr. John Zuraw celebrating the Mass. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren.
