Mary Frances “Babe” Knapp of 1145 Broadway Avenue, Masury, Ohio, died Thursday at home after an extended illness. She was 86.
Mrs. Knapp was born in Farrell, Pennsylvania on May 4, 1919, a daughter of Daniel F. and Martha S. (Murdoch) Miller.
She graduated from Sharon High School in 1937 where she was 12th in her class and she went on to join W.A.C.S., (women auxiliary civil service) serving our country in the U.S. Army.
Her memberships included: the Masury United Methodist Church, where she was a former Board Member, Treasurer, Lay Speaker & Sunday School Teacher; and United Methodist Women, where she was a former Secretary.
In her spare time, Mary enjoyed crafts and reading.
Survivors include: husband, Charles A. Knapp, whom she married November 25, 1937; 3 children, Martha “Marti” Jacobson, Liberty, Ohio, Atty. Nancy Yakubek, Howland, Ohio, and Andrew C. Knapp & his wife Wanda, Brookfield, Ohio; sister, Rose Gallas, Hermitage, Pennsylvania; and 5 grandchildren, Daniel Jacobson, Heather Spuhler, George Yakubek, Leslie & Matthew Knapp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Miller; and sister, Ann M. Stieb.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield, with Rev. Jerry Herron, Pastor. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5-8 PM. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
