Mary M. Harper, age 82 of Bazetta, Ohio, died on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 2:25 AM at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren after a sudden illness. Mary was born on December 16, 1932 in Job, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Isom and Cora Flannigan Smith. Mrs. Harper was retired from Packard Electric in 1998 after 33 years of service. She loved her family and loved telling stories about her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, birds, quilting, and cooking for her family. Mary also enjoyed getting together with friends and fellow retirees. She was also a member of SCOPE in Champion. Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Charles G. Harper, whom she married on December 30, 1950; her children, Charlie (Val) Harper of Bazetta, Jerry (Judi) Harper of Henderson, NV, Don (Deb) Harper of Cortland, Michele (Rick) Lee of Champion, and Mike (Sarah) Harper of Richmond, VA; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Mary is also survived by one brother, Neale Smith of Howland. Other than her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her 4 sisters, and 4 brothers. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Friday, June 26, 2015 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland, where Rev. David Vensel will celebrate Mary's life. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 5:00 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SCOPE, 4451 Mahoning Avenue NW, Warren, Ohio 44483.
