Mary J Crawford

Mary J. Crawford, 86, formerly of Niles, passed away Wednesday July 28, 2010 in Woodland Hills, CA where she had resided for the past 2 years. She was born Feb. 17, 1924 in Warren the daughter of the late Charles A. and Nettie Jean (Everett) Samuels. A lifetime Trumbull County resident, Mary was a 1941 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She attended the West Penn School of Nursing in Pittsburgh and in 1945 graduated as a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for 20 years and also volunteered at blood drives for the American Red Cross. Mary was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Niles where she was very active and she enjoyed traveling. Her beloved husband of 49 years, Tom M. Crawford whom she married Nov. 30, 1946 preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1995. She also was preceded in death by a son Charles R. Crawford in 2004, by a brother Charles Samuels, and by a sister Norma Gilmore. She will be missed by her 4 sons Tom S. (Carmela) Crawford of Scarsdale, NY, Jeffrey A. (Cheryl Ann) Crawford of Massillon, OH, Mark C. (Karen) Crawford of Sherman Oaks, CA, and Richard D. Crawford of La Habra, CA. She also leaves 4 grandchildren Carolyn J. Basista and her fianc Mark Stefanik of Wooster, Allison M. Crawford of Massillon, Mary M. Crawford of Scarsdale, Kaitlyn M. Crawford of La Habra, and a great grandson Alex Scott Crawford. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday Aug. 3 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church of Niles. The Rev. Henry Pearce will officiate. Friends will be received from 2-5PM Monday at Lane Funeral Homes Niles Chapel 415 Robbins Ave. Niles and for 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in Niles City Cemetery. The family suggests donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital PO Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148.
