Mary Jean Goncz

Mary Jean Goncz of North Albright-McKay Road Brookfield, OH, passed away on Wednesday (03-04-2009) at 5:50 PM at Windsor House in Champion. She was 89 years old. Mrs. Goncz was born at her parent's home in Brookfield on March 5, 1919, a daughter of Harry and Ada (Cox) Ulp. A 1937 graduate from Brookfield High School, Mary Jean went on to marry Louis A. Goncz on May 10, 1944 and together they shared fifty-six years of marriage. She had worked as a clerk at the former Sharon Store for more than twenty years. She was a member of Brookfield United Methodist Church, Brookfield, OH, where she was former treasurer of the Alter Guild. Throughout her life Mary Jean was a member of various groups in Brookfield including the: Saddle Club, the Grange, the Snowmobile Club and the former Brookfield Country Garden Club. During her time at home she enjoyed spending time gardening and sewing, but her greatest joy came from her love of cooking, and baking. She is survived by her two daughters Diane Bulick and her husband Paul of Brookfield, OH and by Mary Lou Krauss and her husband Michael of Wayne, IL; her sister Evelyn Meade of Liberty, OH; four grandchildren Erich Krauss, Heidi Krauss-Kowal, Krista Krauss and Amanda Bulick-Zaremba; and by three great-grandchildren Hayden, Lindsey, and Max.. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001; an infant daughter; by her two brothers Edward Ulp and Robert Ulp. Calling hours will be held Sunday evening from 4-7 PM at the Lane Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel, Brookfield, and one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday (03-09-2009) at the Brookfield United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bill Johnson, Pastor. Burial will be in Brookfield Township Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions can be made to the Brookfield United Methodist Church.
