Mary (Popielec) Spirko

Mary (Popielec) Spirko, age 93 of Warren passed away at 9:15pm Monday April 13, 2009 at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles. Mary was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on December 21, 1915, the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Gordon) Popielec. Mary moved to the Warren area in 1935, coming from Cleveland. She belonged to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses North Congregation and Warren Business Association. Mary married her husband Jacob Spirko on October 11, 1947; he preceded her in death on March 23, 2007. Together they shared 59 years of marriage. Surviving Mary are her two children; Phyllis (Gene) Gentile of Niles, William (Irene) Gaul of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister Helen LaBuda of Warren; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three siblings; Jerry Popielec, Jessie Laurix, and Sophia Meszaros. Funeral services will be 11am Friday April 17, 2009 at Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren. The family will be receiving friends from 9:30am until the service time on Friday. Burial will be at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
